🎣 Johnny Creek Baits Weekly Motherlode Fishing Report: March 30, 2026

Motherlode Fishing Report – Spring Bite is ON

Spring has officially taken over, and the bite is wide open across the board. Honestly—it doesn’t matter what body of water you’re on right now… if you’re around fish, you’ve got a real shot.

New Melones Lake

The lake is loaded with staging fish, and they’re setting up all over.

We’ve been putting solid numbers in the boat running finesse worms in Morning Dawn, Purple Haze, and our signature Ringo. There’s also a strong jig bite—especially paired with a Purple Haze neko trailer.

And don’t sleep on the XG8 Glide… we found a few quality bites committing to the big profile.

Fish are moving, positioning, and getting ready—this is prime time.

Don Pedro Lake

Pedro is flat-out hot right now.

Reports of beds all over the lake, and fish are fully committing. If you like sight fishing, now’s your window.

Fish are locked in and biting aggressively—you don’t have to overthink it, just get around them and go to work.

Lake McClure

McClure is producing as well with a consistent spring bite.

Peanut butter jigs are getting it done., and finesse worms in Morning Dawn producing. Shaking a minnow working well.

Fish are on beds here too—and one thing we’ve noticed… Do NOT be afraid to throw those new Uni-style baits. For whatever reason, they do not like them anywhere near the bed. It’s triggering bites.

Lake Amador

Amador is showing out with a strong morning bite until about noon. After that, it tapers—but the early window is legit.

And just to top it off… a 10 lb largemouth hit the scales this week Absolute tank and a reminder of what’s swimming in there.

Final Word

This is it. The spring bite is in full swing.

Fish are shallow, aggressive, and feeding up. Whether you’re dragging finesse, flipping jigs, or throwing the glide—it’s all in play right now.

Now is the time to get out.
